Tennessee, Arkansas & Mississippi
(TAM)
Cardiovascular Clinical
Consortium
The Vascular
Biology Center of Excellence maintains a regional clinical trial network
that includes clinicians, scientists and supporting staff in Tennessee,
Arkansas and Mississippi. The network enables tri-state cardiologists
to participate in multi-center clinical trials and research sub-studies
that focus on coronary artery disease. This network includes physicians,
scientists, physician scientists and research coordinators in the regional
area of Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. Hence, the designation
TAM Cardiovascular Network.
The advantages of a clinical trial network are copious. First, it establishes
a presence within the tri-state area in the cardiovascular arena. Regional
efforts in the diagnosis and treatment in cardiovascular disease are
often under represented and not fully recognized. Second, it permits
our network clinicians to participate in more multi-center trials and
therefore access to state-of-the-art pharmaceuticals for Mid South patients.
Third, it sets the stage for investigator-initiated studies that will
have an impact on the treatment and diagnostic strategies for cardiovascular
diseases. Finally, the TAM Network gives investigators the opportunity
to participate with little effort in clinical trials and sub-studies,
bacause we are able to provide additional laboratory support not typically
available in clinical laboratories. Through joint efforts, there is
a greater opportunity for investigators to co-author abstracts and manuscripts
and, if interested, to participate in speaker's series and seminars.
