Duty Hours: It is the policy of the program that
resident duty hours will be reasonable and not excessive. The Program Director, Dr. Robert Wake,
along with the Chairman, Dr. Mitchell Steiner, are responsible for the
assignment for all duty stations and duty hours. This is periodically monitored by the UT
Memphis GME office for all UT Memphis residency programs. Each urology resident has at least one full
day out of seven free of hospital duties.
The urology residents at each of the participating institutions take
weekday call every other night with back-up from the chief or senior resident
assigned to that facility. This call
is taken from home and consequently the use of in-house sleep rooms is not
required. However, such rooms are
available at University Hospital and Methodist Hospital if such necessity
occurs. |
