Dr. Jerkins is a graduate of The University of Tennessee Memphis, College of Medicine. After General Surgical training at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, he returned and completed his urologic residency at The University of Tennessee, Memphis. Dr. Jerkins received additional training in Pediatric Urology at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool England with Dr. Herbie Johnston. Dr. Jerkins has practiced Pediatric Urology for 21 years in Memphis and is an Associate Professor of Urology with The University of Tennessee, Memphis Department of Urology. On two occasions he served as the Chief of Surgery and is presently the Chief of Staff Elect at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. He is a consultant urologist to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In 1966, Dr. Jerkins was selected as a visiting professor to Kieve, Ukraine as a part of the American Urologic Association's International Cooperative Education Program. He is Medical Director of the LeBonheur Children's Medical Center Spina Bifida Clinic and the Urodynamics Lab. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, a member of the American Urologic Association and the American Medical Association. He is a Urologic Sub-specialty Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Society of Pediatric Urology Fellow. He and his wife Susan have been married for 28 years and have four sons. Dr. Jerkins is a member of the Highland Street Church of Christ and is active in the youth and mission programs.
