TB
Screening & Surveillance Program
University Health Services manages the TB Screening and Surveillance Program
for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The program, instituted
in 1992, is charged with helping to ensure that all employees and students
of
the University are screened annually for tuberculosis exposure., according
to the UTHSC
Infection Control Policy (see
Policies, infection control). The program also stresses
patient education and inter-agency cooperation to control tuberculosis.
If you are an employee or student of The University of Tennessee Health Science
Center, you are entitled to annual screening for tuberculosis. Screening takes
place within
the various areas of the Health Science Center by appointment. Call (901) 448-5630
for
more information about the TB Screening and Surveillance Program.
The student health fee covers the cost of screening
for UT students. UTHSC employees who
are at risk for exposure to TB should be determined by their department to
receive annual PPD
screening. Employee departments will be charged for this screening.
