APPLICANT INFORMATION

Information regarding application to the postgraduate training program in Pediatric Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital

Appointment to the postgraduate training program in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is made through the NRMP (National Residency Match Program).

All information is to be submitted to the Division of Pediatric Surgery through the ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System).

Our program accepts one resident per year.

 

Selection Criteria:

The successful applicant must be scheduled to complete their general surgery training in a program accredited by the ACGME or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be admissible to examination by the American Board of Surgery (or its equivalent), or be certified by that board. Our goal is to provide an outstanding educational opportunity to highly motivated individuals who have a demonstrated track record of academic and clinical excellence. Admission is without bias based on race, gender, age, or religion.

Application information includes the following criteria:

Medical school transcripts
Dean's letter
Personal statement
Letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a pediatric surgeon)
USMLE Scores Part 1 & 2 & 3
ABSITE transcript
Personal Interviews

Interviews are by invitation. Selected applicants will be provided with hotel information and potential interview dates.

ERAS® Post Office will open on December 1, 2008 for program to download applications.

Applications for the academic year beginning 2010 will be accepted until January 31, 2009.

Interviews will be held between February 1, 2009 and March 31, 2009.
