Student Health Information

   For students, the Health Science Center operates on a two-tier health system: Health Insurance and University Health Services. The University Health Services website (http://www.utmem.edu/univheal) has more complete information on all available services.
   All students are required to have health insurance. If you have your own health insurance you must complete a waiver (Insurance Verification Form) each semester to opt out of the insurance offered by UTHSC.    University Health Services is available to all students. Most charges are covered by student fees. Walk-in hours are 8 - 10 a.m. Call 448-5630 for appointments or information.
   As of November 1, 2004, UTHSC has added a Student Assistance Program (SAP). This is a confidential, professional counseling service and is
available 24/7 to help resolve personal concerns and situations that can affect a student’s well-being or academic performance. A student is entitled to 6 visits per year with no out of pocket expense.  Spouses and partners may be included in the counseling sessions. To see the SAP brochure clickHere.
