Educational Conference Frequency Content
Core Curriculum Lecture Weekly Description: Divided into basic science lectures which cover B and T cell biology, genetics of rheumatic conditions, cartilage bilogy, fibrosis and inflammation, regulatory T cells, cytokines, complement and the immune response and clinical lectures. The clinical series covers core rheumatic diseases including subspecialty lectures related to arthritis in orthopedics, myopathies, neuropathies, opthomology, physical and occupational rehabilitation, obstetrics and gynecology, and prosthetic joint infections are presented. Six weeks is devoted to ethics and biostatistics and six weeks is devoted to pharmacology.
Rheumatology Grand Rounds Monthly First or second year rheumatology fellows present a case-based discussion of patient evaluation and management, and differential diagnoses. A comprehensive literature review is expected.
Journal Club Weekly In-depth review of current literature in clinical and basic science.
Radiology Conference Quarterly

Teaching in bone and joint imaging including radiographs, DXA images, musculoskeletal ultrasound and MRI.

 

Metabolic Bone Conference Monthly In-depth review of journal article or research relevant to metabolic bone disease. Includes consideration of clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, critical appraisal, clinical trials, and ethics of research.
Physical Examination in Rheumatology Monthly Monthly lecture by trained patient partners with rheumatoid arthritis in performance of the joint examination. Complicated by lectures of physical findings for specific musculoskeletal problems.
