Welcome to UTHSC Office of Research
In FY05, UTHSC faculty and staff received almost $100 million in external funding for research and
sponsored programs and ranked 105th among institutions of higher education funded by the National
Institutes of Health. Seven College of Medicine departments--Anatomy, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics,
Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Urology--ranked in the top 45 for NIH funding, while
the College of Medicine as a whole ranked 68th.

- "Materials Transfer in Academia" brochure,
developed by the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) is now available. The
information is general in nature and provides a useful perspective on university
technology transfer practices for the benefit of university faculty and administrators.
The exchange of material between universities and industrial laboratories can often
be problematic because of legal or even ethical issues. The brochure is provided here in an effort to
create better understanding by faculty and staff of the potential complexities of material transfer agreements.

for commercializing the results of his research.
