Mary V. Relling, Pharm.D. has been elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), a prestigious branch of the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Relling, chair of St. Jude Pharmaceutical Sciences, is among 65 new members of the IOM this year.

Tony Powers, PharmD received the 2009 National Home Infusion Association (NHIA) Gene Graves Award for Lifetime Achievement. Dr. Powers, CEO of Medical Alternatives in Millington,
Tennessee and professor of clinical pharmacy at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy received the award during the NHIA Annual Conference and Exposition. Established in
2006, the Gene Grave’s Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions to home infusion patients and to the home infusion community overall.

Duane D. Miller, Ph.D., received the prestigious Volwiler Research Achievement Award during the 2009 AACP Annual Meeting and Seminars.
Dr. Dick Gourley, dean of the college of pharmacy, accepts the 2009 AACP Rufus A. Lyman Award on behalf of a team
of faculty members from the University of Tennessee and the University of Memphis. The Lyman Award honors the best
paper published in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and was presented during the 2009 American
Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Annual Meeting and Seminars on July 21, 2009.
For the second consecutive year, the Omega chapter of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity from the University of
Tennessee won the Emory W. Thurston Grand President's Award during the recent 67th Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at UTHSC is pleased to announce recipients of its first K12 Scholars grant program. Two
researchers emerged as K12 Scholars grant recipients: Collin A. Hovinga, PharmD (left), and Terreia S. Jones, PharmD (right). Each investigator
holds the position of assistant professor in the UT College of Pharmacy Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
Stephanie J. Phelps, Pharm.D., BCPS, of Memphis, Tennessee, was recently
presented the 2009 Distinguished Service Award by the Tennessee Society of Health-System
Pharmacists (TSHP) in a ceremony held during its annual meeting, in conjunction with the
122nd Annual Convention of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) in Hilton Head,
South Carolina.
