Scott Adelman, M.D.

Scott Adelman, M.D. The University of Tennessee College of Medicine
Born and raised in Memphis, Dr. Adelman graduated from Christian Brothers University with a BS in Biology. During college, he worked at St. Jude over two years doing clinical research. Scott loves University of Memphis Tiger basketball and the Chicago Cubs. He spent his earlier years following the Dave Matthews Band around the country. Other interests include golf, wine, acoustic guitar, and playing with his dog, Allie.

Ben Bowman, M.D.

Ben Bowman, M.D. The University of Tennessee College of Medicine
Dr. Bowman is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Belmont University where he majored in Biology. Ben attended medical school at the University of Tennessee where he met his beautiful wife, Kristen. During medical school he was active in “Clinica Esperanza”, a free clinic in Memphis for the Hispanic population. He enjoys golf, recreational softball, a friendly poker game and spending time with his lovely wife.


Ben Braun, M.D.

Dr. Braun grew up in Grosse Pointe, just outside Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from Albion College with a major in Physics, he went on to earn two Master degrees from Wayne State University in Basic Medical Science and Biology. Prior to medical school Ben taught high school chemistry for one year and spent several years as a bench research associate in academic and industrial settings. In his spare time Ben enjoys playing guitar, recording music, karaoke and exploring Memphis.


Jack Carey III, M.D.

Dr. Carey was born and raised on a farm in Hartsville, Tennessee, a small town just east of Nashville. He attended Vanderbilt University where he earned a BS in Chemistry and taught science to middle school students in his spare time. When he is not working, you will find Jack on the Little Red River fly fishing for trout or just relaxing on one of the lakes in Northern Mississippi. He also enjoys most other outdoor activities including hiking, horseback riding and hunting.


Christopher Dill, M.D.

Christopher Dill, M.D. East Tennessee State University College of Medicine
Dr. Dill was born in Huntingdon, Tennessee and grew up in Beechmont, Kentucky. As a kid, he enjoyed disassembling his toys just to see how they worked. After graduating from Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Chris worked at Cummins Diesel, Inc. for two years. During this time, he got shocked with 440 volts twice. This changed his focus and he decided that maybe engineering was not for him. He now spends his spare time building a laboratory in the garage where he plans to develop a working theory of gravity and a miniature worm hole to the moon. Chris also likes to paint.


Andrea Murray, M.D.

Dr. Murray was born and raised in the blue grass of Lexington, Kentucky. She received a BS in Agriculture Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky. Despite the ups and downs of UK Athletics, Andrea remains a true BLUE fan until the end. Go CATS!!! Andrea has a passion for mentoring youth and a special interest in serving the underserved. She helped start a mentoring organization called Girls for Christ and in medical school served as co-president for a student run free clinic. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with family and friends, Bible study, cooking, sports of any kind, and photography.


Keith Perkins, Jr., M.D.

Keith Perkins, Jr., M.D. Meharry Medical College School of Medicine
Dr. Perkins was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He is also blessed to be the eldest of five children – all boys!! He attended DePaul University in Chicago and graduated in 2003 with a BS in Biology. Keith attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville. While there he co-founded a local chapter of the AMA and continued to hone his choir directing skills at a local church. Outside of choir directing, Keith enjoys reading, working out, basketball, bowling, and video games.


Leah Smith, M.D.

Dr. Smith was born and raised in Jackson, MS and has been pleased about the proximity of Memphis to home. It is close enough that she can drive there if needed, but far enough away that her parents and eight siblings cannot worry her. She was very blessed throughout high school and college to be afforded opportunities that a girl of her background is scarcely given. She grew up in a family with very strong roots in gospel music, and enjoys all things related to creative arts.


Cyrilyn Walters, M.D.

Cyrilyn Walters, M.D. University of Minnesota Medical School
Dr. Walters was raised in the lovely British Virgin Islands. After completing her master’s degree in Public Health at Boston University, she went on to attend medical school at the University of Minnesota. While there she developed an interest in minority health and adolescents. When not working, Cyrilyn enjoys reading mystery novels, movies, dance and seeing new places. Cyrilyn is looking forward to experiencing life in the south.


Emily Young, M.D.

Emily Young, M.D. Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
Dr. Young grew up in a central Illinois farm town. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana as an undergraduate and then Southern Illinois University for medical school. She enjoys spending time with family, reading and music. Emily also enjoys outdoor recreation, tennis, and volleyball, especially in warm weather. She has interests in medical missions and expanding access to health care in the United States.
