The Mid-South Telehealth Consortium (MSTC)
The Mid-South Telehealth
Consortium (MSTC). MSTC consists of primary, secondary and
tertiary health care providers across the region seeking to bridge the gap
between resource rich Shelby County (Memphis) and the surrounding
underserved areas of Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee. With an
extensive video conferencing network of 101 telehealth
connections, The Telehealth Network has supported 12 federally
funded intervention projects, with many in collaboration with the Tennessee
Department of Health and TennCare (See Attachment 3). These projects
include using telehealth to:
-
Provide specialty consultations to rural physicians in underserved
areas;
-
Help diagnose and treat tuberculosis;
-
Satisfy unmet behavioral health needs of
children in state custody;
-
Provide specialty and home care for children and
adults with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities;
-
Provide health education and consultation
through county agricultural extension offices, to provide proctoring
for pharmacy residents;
-
Offer mobile remote optical or ophthalmalogical and dental screening.
