Description

The UTHSC Outreach Center proposes to joint venture with UTMG to expand the existing Kids in Custody telehealth program to provide telemedicine services for all medical specialty visits since the research has shown that as telemedicine increases, costs decrease and timeliness and access are improved. 

Scope of Work

·    All health services for incarcerated youth in Tennessee Youth Detention Centers will be provided through contracts with UTHSC and UTMG. 

·    The contracts will specify the funding allocations, performance measures and provider responsibilities.  A full range of medical, dental and psychiatric services will be available to all incarcerated youth through existing telehealth facilities in the four Youth Detention Centers (YDC’s).

·    When a youth has an ailment beyond the expertise of the YDC’s onsite medical staff, the staff will arrange a telemedicine consultation appointment with the appropriate UT specialist.  Every specialty and subspecialty will be available to patients via telemedicine.
