Description of
Sports Medicine Fellowship
Two of these fellowships, Sport Medicine, and
Pediatric Orthopaedics, are currently accredited by the American Medical
Association's Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
The University of Tennessee Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program with which
all subspecialty fellowship proograms are affiliated, has held full
accreditation with ACGME since May 6, 1961.
Each fellowship has a director who
determines curriculum within the guidelines of the ACGME and in cooperation
with the director of resident education. Directors are assisted by Campbell
Clinic staff physicians and other department faculty who have special interest
and expertise in specified subspecialty areas. Fellows work with patients in
clinic and surgery, assisting/supervising residents in clinic and surgery, and
in teaching conferences for both residents and medical students.
