Meet the Staff
Michael Alston’s employment within The University of Tennessee System spans several years with stints at UT- Martin (1989 to 1993) and UT-Knoxville (1993 to 2002), and UT Health Science Center (2002 to present). He has also worked 4 years as an adjunct instructor of psychology (i.e., Human Relations in Organizations; Human and Lifespan Development) with State Technical Institute/Southwest Tennessee Community College. As a result, Michael's work experience in higher education encompasses residence life administration, student enrollment services, undergraduate instruction, and employee relations.
He is an alumnus of The University of Tennessee at Martin earning a B.S. in Psychology (1988) and M.S. in Educational Psychology and Guidance (1991). Additionally, Michael is working towards completion of a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy with a concentration in higher education administration from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
Michael is a native of Brighton, Tennessee in Tipton County.
Cynthia Tooley is a native of Florida, and moved to Memphis in January 1997. Cynthia earned her bachelor’s of science degree in office administration from Florida A&M University.
She began her journey with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in February 1997. Employment included the Development Office (1997 – 1999); Department of Urology (1999 – 2003), and the Office of Equity and Diversity (2003 – present).
Cynthia has a passion for helping people. Currently, some of her duties include counseling and assisting employees with issues affecting job-related performance and personal well-being; coordinating the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) referrals; developing and delivering EAP related training that also includes counseling employees about EAP services, and participating in resolution of conflicts and other employee relations issues by identifying and partnering with management in reducing or eliminating root causes.
Tiffany Trice has been employed with The University of Tennessee Health Science Center for two years (2005 to present). From 2005-2007 she was the Administrative Aide for the Office of Equity and Diversity. During those two years she obtained her Certified Professional Secretary Certification (CPS) at UTHSC/Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Currently Tiffany receives and investigates complaints through internal and external inquiry that includes policy and discrimination allegations and manages HSC grievance hearing process; regularly presents information on institutional policy, Title VII, and sexual harassment; conducts training, presents new student orientation; coordinates service recognition luncheons, Constitution Day activities, employee relations advisory organization elections and directs OED website content and event marketing to enhance internal communications with students, staff, faculty and general public.
She is an alumnus of the University of Tennessee at Martin earning a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations (2005). In addition to earning her degree at UT Martin Tiffany was actively involved in various campus and leadership organizations.
Tiffany is a native of Martin, Tennessee in Weakley County.
Felecia Shaw began her career with The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2008. She prides herself in helping others and being a team player. As the administrative specialist, Felecia coordinates the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) activities, service recognition events, responds to inquiries regarding ADA/Section 504, and handles OED administrative fiscal functions.
Felecia is a native Memphian and plans to obtain a degree in Business Administration in the near future.
Lindsay Brassel began her career at the University Health Science Center in 2008. As the administrative support assistant, Lindsay provides information to students, faculty, staff, and the general public, maintains OED records and upper level search files, distributes service awards, and coordinates scheduling and course credit for HR 128 training.
She is a native Memphian and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She prides herself in working hard and being a team player.
