Welcome to Obstetrics and Gynecology
Obstetrics and Gynecology is an exciting field that
now encompasses not just the recognized subspecialties of Gynecologic
Oncology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and
Infertility, and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
but also such diverse arenas as reproductive genetics, immunology,
infectious diseases, and behavioral medicine. In addition, the role
of the obstetrician-gynecologist as a primary care provider is receiving
increased attention and recognition.
The major focus of any residency training program
remains, however, that of acquiring clinical skills essential for
the consultant obstetrician-gynecologist. Our program provides extensive
hands-on and didactic experience in the entire spectrum of obstetrical
and surgical management. A diverse and energetic full-time faculty
oversees training designed to proceed at a comfortable pace, with
appropriate, but not over-bearing supervision. This readily available
faculty facilitates the application of scientific advances to clinical
obstetrics and gynecology. In addition, a dedicated group of volunteer
clinical faculty welcome residents' participation in their respective
cases.
