AMERICAN MEDICAL WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION (AMWA)

AMWA is an organization of more than 10,000 women physicians and medical students dedicated to serving as a voice for women's health.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE (ASRM)

The ASRM is an organization devoted to advancing knowledge and expertise in reproductive medicine and biology.

ASSOCIATION OF AMERICAN MEDICAL COLLEGES

AAMC mission is to improve the health of the public by enhancing the effectiveness of academic medicine. To this end they have links for Medcareers, ERAS, Frieda, and other sites for medical students to use as they decide on an eventual career choice.

ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSORS OF GYNECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS (APGO)

Here you can download free APGO publications, and find publication and program listings related to women's health curricula.

FREIDA ONLINE

FREIDA Online is a database containing information on approximately 7,500 graduate medical education programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), as well as on 200 combined specialty programs. The site provides statistics summarizing training in each specialty and subspecialty. Current information about the marketplace for new physicians is also available. Specifically, FREIDA displays the results from AMA surveys of recent GME graduates about their employment seeking experiences.

HHS OFFICE OF WOMEN'S HEALTH

The Office of Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)is the government's focal point for women's health issues. The office directs and coordinates women's health research, health-care services, and public and health professional education and training. The site provides links for health professionals, researchers, and the public.

JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (JAMA) WOMEN'S HEALTH INFORMATION CENTER

This site is designed as a women's health information resource for physicians and other health professionals.

MEDSCAPE: WOMEN'S HEALTH

The site offers includes (1) a large collection of free, full-text, peer-reviewed clinical medicine articles; (2) access to MEDLINE, AIDSLINE, & TOXLINE;(3) Daily medical news; and (4) self-assessment features.

NATIONAL WOMEN'S HEALTH INFORMAITON CENTER (NWHIC)

The NWHIC is a project of the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. The site provides a gateway to the vast array of Federal and other women's health information resources.

AGENCY FOR HEALTH CARE POLICY AND RESEARCH WOMEN'S HEALTH

This site gives examples of research projects currently underway and completed on topics concerning conditions especially important to women

HEALTH RESOURCES AND SERVICE ADMINISTRATION (HRSA) WOMEN'S HEALTH

The HRSA provides national leadership to increase access to primary and preventive health care for those who are medically underserved. HRSA's education and training activities, community-based health services, and research incorporate the unique needs of women and girls with a view that health is a life-span issue, and that race, ethnicity, culture and socioeconomic factors along with other life experiences must be considered.

NATIONAL CENTER FOR HEATLH STATISTICS (NCHS)

This site has vital statistics for 1998, the Healthy People 2010 database, and other national statistics.

NATIONAL GUIDELINE CLEARING HOUSE

This is an Internet web site intended to make evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related abstract, summary and comparison materials widely available to health care professionals. It is operated by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services.

International Health Agencies

UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR WOMEN (UNIFEM)

This organization is working for women's empowerment and gender equality. Has a section entitled "A World Free of Violence Against Women" and Women's Human Rights.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

The WHO makes recommendations about international nomenclature of diseases, causes of death and public health practices. It develops establishes and promotes international standards concerning foods, pharmaceutical and similar issues.

CONTRACEPTION ONLINE

Contraception Online is designed to keep you current on the latest is contraception research and practice. The site also provides effective educational tools for creating timely presentations on development related to contraception and related reproductive health issues.

THE ALAN GUTTMACHER INSTITUE

JACOB'S INSTITUTE OF WOMEN'S HEALTH

This site offers Guidelines for Counseling Women on the Management of Menopause. This document was developed by JIWH Expert Panel for use by health plans and clinicians.

NORTH AMERICAN MENOPAUSE SOCIETY (NAMS)

NAMS is devoted to promoting understanding of menopause, and thereby improving the health of women through midlife and beyond. This site offers news summaries, abstracts from their journal and an extensive list of answerers to FAQ's, patient brochures and review a comprehensive bibliography on all aspects of health and aging during this phase of life.

This site form the National Cancer Institute (NCI) provides access to current information on cancer diagnosis and treatment, the NCI database on cancer care, and extensive information on cancer screening and prevention.

SOCIETY OF GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGISTS

The SGO is a non-profit, international organization made up of obstetricians and gynecologist specializing in gynecologic oncology. Its purpose is to improve the care of women with gynecologic cancer, to raise standards of practice in gynecologic oncology and to encourage on-going research.

WOMEN'S CANCER NETWORK

This site form the SGO is designed for patient education regarding gynecologic cancer including personalized risk assessment for development of gynecologic breast cancer.
