Christian Health Center and Southridge Village

Located in Heber Springs, Arkansas the Christian Health Center provides primary care to people whose income is less than 200% of federal poverty levels and who have no health insurance. This means that almost all the patients are between 18 and 65 years of age.  Dr. Michael Carter, a University Distinguished Professor, provides care along with other Advanced Practice Nurses, physicians, pharmacists, counselors, ministers, and many other volunteers. During each Thursday evening clinic approximately 50 patients, receive care and there needed medications. The Center's major income source is donations and their primary expenditures are for medications.

At Southridge Village in Heber Springs, Arkansas, Dr. Carter serves as the APN for the Nursing and Rehab Center through an arrangement with the Department of Geriatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine.  He also serves as the Medical Director for the Retirement Center (Assisted Living) facility. Funding for these services is primarily from Medicare fee-for-service and contract.
