Nomination Form PDF | Criteria

Nominations will be accepted through September 22, 2008 for the John W. Runyan, Jr. Community Nursing Award, which will be presented in the fall at the annual convention of the Tennessee Nurses Association.

The award, established in 1979, is designed to recognize a currently practicing nurse who has made significant contributions to the development and promotion of community health nursing. The setting for community health nursing is principally primary care settings where clients live, work, play, and attend school.

The award is named in honor of Dr. John W. Runyan, Jr., University Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s department of preventative medicine. He is an internationally recognized advocate for the role of nurses in community health care.

A selection committee, which includes many former recipients and is chaired by Dr. Susan Jacob, will select the award winner.  For more information on the award or the nomination process, please contact Tammy Vaughn at tevaughn@utmem.edu or 901-448-6407.
