Since 2002, Dr. Dwayne L Accardo, CRNA, DNP has been the UTHSC clinical coordinator for the Medical Anesthesia Group and was nurse anesthesia faculty prior to appointment as the Associate Program Director. His teaching expertise is pharmacology, obstetrical and cardiac anesthesia. Dr. Accardo also teaches in the clinical area. He is an active member of the AANA, AWHONN, ANA, TANA, and TNA. He currently serves on the Educational Committee and is the District I Director for the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Dr. Accardo’s expertise is obstetrical anesthesia where he has worked for eight years in the Memphis area. He has served as a reviewer for current obstetrical nursing textbooks and is currently part of the evidence based regional guideline revision team for the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurse. Dr. Accardo received his BSN from The University of Mississippi in 1995. He received his MS in Nurse Anesthesia from Webster University in St. Louis in 2001, and his DNP from The University of Tennessee with a focus in Advanced Obstetrical Anesthesia in 2007.
