Dr. Bellflower, a native of the Mississippi Delta, is currently the Option Coordinator of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Manager of the NNP service at the Regional Medical Center, Memphis (The Med). She has been Option Coordinator for the NNP program since 2000. The Med Neonatal Intensive Care unit (NICU), a 65 bed Level III NICU, is her main practice site and provides clinical practice for the majority of the NNP students. Respiratory distress, developmental care of the newborn, and growth of the premature infants are her majors areas of interest in the NICU, but her other major areas of interest include development and nurturing of NNPs and the NNP role in hospitals and the community.

Dr. Bellflower teaches all didactic courses (online) for the NNP program with the exception of the NNP Pharmacology course (Eliza Rhinehart, PharmD teaches 50% of the course including pharmacokinetics). Dr. Bellflower teaches 50% of the clinical courses and master’s prepared NNPs (preceptors) teach the remaining 50%.

Dr. Bellflower is a member of the Multidiciplinary Advisory Board for the Vermont Oxford Research Network, an active member of National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), past program chairman for the Memphis Area Association of Neonatal Nurses, and is a member of ANA and TNA.
