About the Master of Science in Nursing Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Program

The Master of Science in Nursing CNL program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center prepares students for initial licensure as registered nurses and certification as a CNL. As the first professional degree in nursing, it also provides the foundation for preparation at the doctoral level for advanced practice nursing.

You can apply for the CNL program with an undergraduate degree in any field.  Through an accelerated 22-month program and after only 16 months, you will be eligible to sit for the registered nurse licensure examination. Graduates of the program are also eligible to sit for national certification as Clinical Nurse Leaders.

As a Clinical Nurse Leader, you will have an in-depth understanding of front-line care systems that promote safety, error reduction and quality improvement in the direct care of patients with complex health problems.
