Tennessee (January 27, 2004) – The University of Tennessee Health Science
Center (UTHSC) A.C. Mullins Professor in Research,
Titled, “An Immunogenetic and Molecular Basis for Differences in Outcomes of Invasive Group A Streptoccal Infections,” the paper was recognized as one of six publications selected for the “Molecule of the Year 2003” by the International Society for Molecular and Cell Biology Protocols and Researches, Inc. (ISMCBPR). The organization annually pools a number of prestigious scientific publications as a basis for making the selection.
The paper was also recognized as one of the top 15 research articles for 2002/2003 by the American Society for Microbiology at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy and by The Infectious Disease Society of America meeting. It was published in the December 2002 issue of Nature Medicine. Dr. Kotb was first author on the article, along with eleven others; three were also affiliated with UTHSC: Hesham El-Sherbini, M. Tevik Dorak, and Jeanie Peeples.
