Neuroscience Institute Fellowships for Undergraduate Research Awarded

The UT Neuroscience Institute awarded the 2008-2009 Merit Fellowships for Undergraduate Neuroscience Research to three area students, who will work in UTHSC labs this summer. Lorna Wilkes and Michael Antone, of Christian Brothers University, and Daniel Wilkinson, of Rhodes College, were selected by a committee at their respective institutions based on their academic excellence and strong interest in neuroscience. Lorna will work with Dr. Robert Foehring , PhD, in Anatomy and Neurobiology, who studies neurons in the cerebral cortex and amygdaloid nuclei. Michael will work with Dr. Kristin Hamre , PhD, in Anatomy and Neurobiology, who studies the interaction between genetics and the nervous system. Daniel will work with Dr. Charles Leffler, PhD, in Physiology, who studies newborn cardiovascular regulation.
