Project Tasks

Every networked device on campus will be effected by this project, and everyone has a part in this project.

All Computer Users

Users will automatically receive new addresses without action on their part. You will only need to establish a new connection with any networked printers you use.

If you are a Remote User, you must first connect to the internal network through a VPN tunnel. The required VPN software and instruction are available at the IT Security Downloads Page. Products such as Windows Remote Desktop, pcAnywhere and VNC will not be able to communicate through the new firewall.

Server Administrators

All servers will be assigned a new static address. The old addresses will not function on the upgraded network. Server Administrators must submit data about the server and its information and system classifications before a new address will be assigned. See the Secure Server Initiative 2008 for details.
