UTHSC Department of Molecular Sciences

The Department of Molecular Sciences is the newest basic science department at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, although its roots date back to the foundation of the Medical School. The department was established in 2000 by combining the existing Departments of Biochemistry, and Microbiology and Immunology. This fusion has resulted in a new dynamic and complementary blending of faculty talents in a way that encourages interdisciplinary activities both within the department and among Molecular Science faculty and faculty from other departments and programs:

  • Concentrations in Biochemistry, Immunology, and Microbiology
  • Over 45 Full-Time and Affiliate Research Faculty
  • State-of-the-Art Research Facilities
  • Affiliation with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
  • Affordable Living in an Exciting Metropolitan Area
