Interim Chairman
Lacey Smith, MD
Dr. Smith completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston. Following his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Baylor, where for eight years he was Assistant Professor in both the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Physiology. In 1989 Dr. Smith joined the faculty of UT Health Science Center and became a full Professor in 1996. His role as interim chairman began February 1, 2006.
Dr. Smith is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He has acted as Medical Service Chief for the Veteran's Administration Hospial in Memphis since 1994.
