Cisco VPN Client for Windows 95, 98, and ME

These instructions are ONLY for Windows 95, 98, and ME.  If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, then you need to go here.

1. Download the appropriate VPN Client and extract it to a folder using WinZip:

2. Click on Start and select Run. Browse to the folder with the extracted files and select the filename setup.exe. Click Open to run the setup program.

3. The VPN Client is ready to install. Close all open applications and click next to continue.

4. Click Yes to accept the license agreement.

5. Click next to install the client in the default directory:

6. Click Next to begin the installation:

8. You will also see the following message during the install:

9. Select Yes and click finish to restart your system so the installation changes can take effect:

10. To connect using the VPN Client, Click on Start – Programs – Cisco Systems VPN Client – VPN Client

11. Double-click on the utmem connection entry to connect to the UTMEM VPN server:

12. Enter your Net ID and password in the dialog box to authenticate:

13. If successful, you will see a pop-up menu stating the authentication was successful and to visit a website to test your connection

14. To test your connection, open your web browser and type http://pcnet.utmem.edu in the address bar. If successful, the website will tell you.

If unsuccessful, you will see a website like the one below. This may be due to a software installation problem, please call the UTHSC Helpdesk at 448-2222 for assistance.
