Establish Your Net ID

 All students, faculty, and staff at the University of Tennessee now have a NetID and associated password. 

If you do not have a Net ID, a faculty or staff member responsible for your work must fill out a Net ID sponsorship form online.  The application can
be found under ILogin off the UTHSC home page.  The sponsor must login with their Net ID and password, go under "Administration" to "Net ID
Online Request/Renewal".  There they can fill out the form to get you a Net ID.

Your NetID will permit secure access to a variety of Web-based applications. How do I find out my what my NetID is? 

1.) Browse to the UT system directory pages at http://directory.utk.edu.

2.) Type your name in the "Enter a person or organization name:" field.

3.) The screen below should appear giving your LDAP information including Net ID and email address.  

*If you get an error indicating no information was found than your LDAP information has not been established yet (you don't have a Net ID yet).*

4.) Look at the "Email" field above.  Does the name before the @utmem.edu match the "Net ID" value?  

If it does then your Net ID account information (username and password) matches your email account information (username and password).

If your Net ID and your email login username do not match then you have an assigned Net ID password, and a DIFFERENT username and password for email.  Call the Helpdesk at 448-2222 to get these values "synced" so you only have to remember one username and password for all systems.

When your account is first established, your default Net ID password protocol is as follows:

• First two letters of your birth month
• Last two digits of your birth year
• Last four digits of your social security number

Example: Birth month January | Birth Year 1971 | Social Security Number 000-00-4444

Password: ja714444
