The Department of Health Affairs and Governmental Relations promotes the state-wide mission of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. It coordinates the diverse assets of the Health Science Center, the University of Tennessee, and outside partners to expand existing and develop new programs serving the missions of education, research, patient care, and service.
The Outreach Center continues to develop its telehealth enterprise, one of the largest in the country. This center is vital in our efforts to increase access in rural areas to health information technology. The center serves to augment health care and patient education otherwise unavailable in these locations.
The Department of Health Affairs and Governmental Relations also is the point of interface with state and federal agencies, providing information to increase awareness and support for the Health Science Center. This office also serves as a major resource for advice on pending legislation which impacts health education and healthcare.
