Greetings on behalf of the students, staff, and faculty of the College of Graduate Health Sciences at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The College was founded in 1928 and is one of seven institutions in Tennessee accredited to award the doctoral degree and one of ten, the master’s degree. In our 76-year history, 1123 degrees have been awarded, and our graduates have distinguished themselves as leaders in academic, industrial, and governmental positions. The College was the first graduate college in Tennessee to accept an electronic thesis or dissertation. The College's seven degree programs have been developed by faculty in four of the professional colleges at the Health Science Center. Specifically, three of our degree programs (Biomedical Engineering and Imaging, Epidemiology, and Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences) involve faculty in the College of Medicine; two (Health Science Administration and Pharmaceutical Sciences) involve faculty in the College of Pharmacy; and two programs each involve faculty from Dentistry and Nursing. The Biomedical Engineering and Imaging program is a joint program involving faculty at both UT and the University of Memphis. I invite you to browse further on our Web site to learn more about the PhD and MS programs, courses, academic calendar, program chairs/directors, College administration, and our electronic admission procedure. Science gets more exciting each day. With the completion of the Human Genome Project, all of us are going to see enormous changes with respect to the application of scientific principles. Opportunities abound for our graduates in other academic institutions and in the biotechnology industry that is growing exponentially. On behalf of the 350 faculty of the College, I welcome you to our Web
site. We are delighted that you are seeking information about our programs,
faculty, and College. Should you need additional information, please feel
free to contact me or any of our faculty and staff. Revised 3 August 2006 |
