Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences

FROM THE DIRECTOR

Director Pat Ryan

The Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences represents a new and exciting direction in graduate training. The IPBS is composed of faculty from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, as well as joint and affiliate faculty from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The diverse composition of faculty and curriculum lead to an exceptional, integrated graduate learning experience that is rarely achieved through matriculation in a conventional, department-based graduate program. Moreover, students are not limited in their choice of mentors, but rather can select from faculty within any of the program’s seven research tracks. Thus, the IPBS provides an integrated research experience while offering virtually the entire campus to incoming students.

Consider the IPBS for your graduate education. You will receive state-of-the-art training from world-renowned faculty here at UT and at our affiliate institutions. Upon completing your degree, you will be prepared for a career in academia, government, or industry, where multifaceted researchers are prized for their insight into the complicated problems that emerge from evolving science and technology.
