Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences

Cell Biology and Biochemistry

Susan Senogles, Ph.D.

The required coursework is designed to provide the student with a strong conceptual foundation in cell biology and biochemistry and can be flexibly tailored to the needs of each student. Student training emphasizes laboratory research under the direction of faculty and is geared to the expectation that students will contribute significant new insights to their field of research.

Research in the Cell Biology and Biochemistry track is directed by faculty at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (Departments of Molecular Sciences, Medicine, and Physiology) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Departments of Biochemistry, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Molecular Pharmacology, Molecular Therapeutics and Cell Signaling, Structural Biology, and Tumor Cell Biology). Some faculty are also members of Centers of Excellence (in Genomics and Bioinformatics, Connective Tissue Disease, Vascular Biology, Biology of Brain Diseases) and the Neuroscience Institute at the University of Tennessee.
