Two New Faculty join staff at UTHSC GI:

        Dr. Christopher D. Miller and Dr. Farees T. Farroq have joined faculty in the division. Both will be stationed primarily at the Methodist Hospital. For more information on them please see their web pages.

Graduation 2007

• Dr. Claudio Tombazzi Receives the 2006-2007 “James Lacey Smith Teaching Award”
• Kerry N. Whitt, M.D. received the outstanding Fellow Award

Dr. Riely retires:

  In December 2007, Dr. Caroline A. Riely officially retired from the full-time faculty of UTHSC Memphis. Dr. Jaquelyn Fleckenstein and Dr. Satheesh Nair have assumed leadership of the UTHSC hepatology section. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is actively recruiting to “fill the void” left by Dr. Riely's retirement (a daunting task).

NIH Hepatitis Center Grant is Renewed for 5 More Years :

  The NIH Center Grant begun 5 years ago to study racial differences in the natural history and therapeutic responsiveness of hepatitis C infection has been renewed for another 5 years. Dr. Jaquelyn Fleckenstein is PI of the clinical core of this project. Basic science sections by Drs. Tony Marion and Lawrence Pfeffer as PI's were also renewed. Congratulations to all on this outstanding accomplishment.
