Accounting and Budget
The Office of Accounting and Budget, a division of Finance and Operations, serves the UTHSC as the central office for the unrestricted budgeting, fiscal monitoring, financial analysis, and financial reporting functions. The mission of Accounting and Budget is to serve the campus community, including Clinical Education Center-Knoxville, Clinical Education Center-Chattanooga, Memorial Research Center, and Family Practices Knoxville, Jackson, and Memphis, in overseeing the appropriate budget, expenditure, and reporting of unrestricted funds.
Primary Services for unrestricted funds provided by the Office of Accounting and Budget include:
- Quality control of budget process from appropriations request through original and revised budgets.
- Monitoring budget and posted data for variances and coordination of corrections.
- Staff benefits accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Position Control System management.
- Financial accreditation and other external surveys and reports.
- Ensures the quality of the year-end close process.
- Provides oversight of campus general revenues including fees and appropriations.
Other services include:
- Unrestricted account set-up and review of attributes.
- Preparation of internal financial quarterly reports.
- Distribution of financial reports.
- Training on IRIS (SAP R/3) budget system and general ledger.
- Maintenance of financial records library.
- Provides analyses of budget and financial data.
