Financial aid funds
Work Study:
Work Study is a federal need based financial aid program providing opportunities
for students to work part time while enrolled at the University.
Students in all disciplines are eligible, and no additional application
is required. You will be notified of Work Study eligibility, as well
as all other financial aid programs, in your financial aid award letter.
Students may begin Work Study no earlier than the first day of their fall
semester, and can work until the last day of their spring semester, or until May
31, whichever occurs sooner. The maximum hours one can work is 20 per week,
except for officially recognized University breaks (spring break, for instance),
during which one can work up to 40 hours a week. Students must carefully
monitor their earnings so that the total amount of Work Study awarded is not
exceeded. Students with a Work Study job may have no more than one paid position at the University.
If you are awarded Work Study, the steps to securing a job and earning the funds are:
1. Register and review the Work Study positions here and find one that interests you.
2. Contact the employer(s) and come to a mutual agreement about working there, including any interview they might request, a tentative schedule, etc.
3. Apply for the position. This is required of both new and returning students, even if returning to the same Work Study position from a prior year.
Once your employer has hired you, you may begin working.
