Odontology:
Course Description:
This course is designed to introduce members of the
dental profession to the field of forensic dentistry, that is dental expertise
as it applies to legal problems. A
variety of topics will be discussed including the history and scope of forensic
odontology, identification of unknown remains, bitemark evidence, age
determination, human abuse and mass disaster among others. Due to the nature of
the subject matter, these lectures are suitable for adults only.
Presented by:
Dr. Ned Turner is an Associate Professor at the
University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.
He has 19 years experience in the field of forensics and is a member of
numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Forensic
Sciences and the American Society of Forensic Odontology, and a member of the
Disaster Morturary Operational Response Team.
He is also a consulting scientist to the Shelby County Regional Forensic
Center.
