Dr. Schaberg is Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Tennessee, a post he has held since 1993. He has served on study sections for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as well as the Merit Review Board for Infectious Diseases of the Department of Veterans Affairs Research Service. He has a total of over 115 publications dealing mainly with the molecular basis of antimicrobial resistance and microbial pathogenesis. He was codirector of a microbial pathogenesis training grant while at the University of Michigan and current research interest involves the interaction of products of inflammation with bacteria resulting in promotion of growth.
