Technical Personnel

Animal Care & Maintenance
(* Indicates Exempt Personnel)

The technical staff includes one supervisor who is AALAS/LATG certified and one supervisor as maintenance foreman; 9 animal care staff (2 AALAS/LATG certified, 1 AALAS/LAT certified, 2 AALAS/ALAT certified and 4 senior animal caretakers); and one maintenance mechanic. An in-house training program for DCM technicians (as well as for technicians from VAMC, Memphis State, St. Jude, Schering Plough HCP, etc. as requested) is conducted every second year during regular working hours. The program is designed to assist the technicians in achieving AALAS certification. As technicians are certified at the various levels, they receive automatic promotions and pay raises. Additional in service workshops are conducted as necessary (e.g. on Herpes "B", employee relations, equipment use, operating procedures, etc.). A full computerized training log is available on all DCM employees. Full supervisory/technician reviews of DCM operating manual are done periodically including signature for certification of procedural knowledge.
