Department Facilities
The DCM is responsible for the husbandry and/or veterinary care for
all vertebrate animals maintained for research, teaching, or testing on
the campus. Approximately 75,000 gross square feet of facilities are provided
in several locations on campus that are specifically designed and constructed
for housing experimental animals. Specialized housing areas for maintenance
of animals used on biohazardous studies are also available. Animals are
housed in 4 buildings on campus. The campus buildings are all owned by
the University. A list of campus buildings containing animal facilities
is available through the Department of Comparative Medicine (448-5656),
noting the NSF (net square feet, including only actual room space and not
walls, corridors, mechanical space, elevators, stairwells, etc.) of animal
facility space and number of animal rooms in each building.
