University of Tennessee Health Science Center - Department of Comparative Medicine

Chairman's Note

Summer tends to be a time of transition in the academic community. There have been changes within the Department of Comparative Medicine as well. To begin with, we mark the retirement of Dr. David Renquist in January. Although retired from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Renquist is staying busy as a consultant with the Federal Government, AAALAC International, and Private Research Facilities. From time to time we may even see him on the UT campus again. We also mark the retirement of Mr. Therman Jackson. Mr. Jackson well known to UT researchers, leaves UT with over 30 years of service. Therman will also find himself busy in his retirement. He will be working with his brother's contracting business, a job that will require him to travel extensively. We will also like to note some new additions to DCM: Marvell Anderson, Senior Animal Caretaker, Reggie Milasevicius, Senior Animal Cartaker, Alycia Zavelli, Senior Animal Caretaker, and Carlos Virgous, Special Projects Coordinator. Dr. Timothy Mandrell, has been named Acting Chair of the Department of Comparative Medicine. As we move into the new fiscal year, we look forward to new challenges, service and projects. We're also pleased to announce that there will be no increase in Comparative Medicine fees for fiscal year 1999-2000.
