Key Facilities

1. X ray diffractometer (D8 Advance, Bruker)

X ray diffractometer is used to characterize the crystal structure of substances. The substances can be powder, film and bulk materials. This x ray diffractometer has a grazing angle attachment and is able to investigate the film crystal structure.

2. Fourier Transformed Infrared (FTIR) and attenuated total reflectance infrared (ATR-IR) spectrometer (Tensor 27, Bruker)

This FTIR and ATR spectrometer is used to investigate the molecular composition of the substance. It is also able to investigate the protein adsorption.

3. Contact angle measurement (VCA Optima XE, AST products Inc., USA)

Contact angle tester is used to measure the surface wettability and surface tension.

4. X ray fluorescence (S2 ranger, Bruker)

X ray fluorescence is used to measure the elemental composition of the substances.

5. Nikon TE2000U Inverted Microscope with Fluorescence and Phase Contrast

The TE2000U system is used to observe the cell behavior and histology samples. It contains a three dimensional moving stage.

6. Mechanical tester (TestResources)

The mechanical tester is used to measure the mechanical properties of substances.

7. Biological Sterile laminar hood

The biological hood is used for cell culture and tissue collection under sterile condition.

8. Z2 Coulter (Beckman Coulter Inc., USA)

Coulter counter is used to count the size distribution of particles. In this lab, Coulter counter is used to count the cell numbers.

9. Incubator (Thermo Series 300)

The incubator is used for cell culture.

10. Autoclave

This steam autoclave is used for sterilize the samples and tools.

11. Distiller

This distiller is used to produce distill water for material preparation and cell culture.
