Introduction to LEND Traineeship Program
The BCDD is a developmental disabilities
training center that prepares personnel in interdisciplinary
settings and provides outreach training to the community.
Professional Traineeship Programs
The BCDD Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) training focuses not only on direct
services but also on leadership in advocacy, ethics, reseach,
and systems change.
Students from a variety of disciplines and
universities come to the BCDD for observation or specific
training purposes. Each year approximately 250 students complete
training at the Boling Center, 18 to 25 of whom are long-term
trainees/fellows.
This training is funded by a grant from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) to support trainees, faculty, continuing education and technical assistance to train the next generation of leaders in maternal and child health. Emphasis on interdisciplinary, family-centered, culturally competent care with a population-focused, public health approach. The MCHB vision for the 21st century is that all children, youth, and families will live and thrive in healthy communities served by a quality workforce that helps assure their health and well being. Community Training Programs
BCDD serves as a local, regional, and national
outreach training center in the field of developmental disabilities.
Training is available to trainees at various locations in the West Tennessee Area. Learn more about community training
