Harwood Center
About the Program
Harwood Center is an early intervention program serving
children ages birth to three years old with developmental
delays.
Program features include:
- Year-round day school for children with developmental
delays ages 18 months to 3 years, with 2 or 3-day enrollment
options
- Behavioral management
- Weekly home-based instruction for children ages birth
to three who are too ill or too young to attend Harwood
- Weekly instruction for children attending typical community
childcare centers
- Parent education and advocacy
- Community Awareness training
Work Schedule
The Harwood Center operates on a twelve-month basis. School
hours are 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with before and after
school care available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from
3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Funding
Funding for the program is provided in part by the United
Way of the Mid-South, individual, corporate and foundation
giving, as well as special event fundraising. Additional support
is provided by the University of Tennessee Boling Center for
Developmental Disabilities.
Accreditation
Harwood is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental
Health/Developmental Disabilities and the Department of Human
Services. Harwood is funded under the agreement with the State
of Tennessee.
