for Developmental Disabilities Developmental Pediatrics Clinic offers consultations
for a variety of known or suspected developmental problems. Appointments may also
include evaluations by other professionals in an interdisciplinary team approach.
Developmental Problems Addressed Questions about developmental
delay, poor school performance, and behavior problems are frequently addressed
in the Developmental Pediatrics Clinic. Consultations are provided for children
with cerebral palsy, autism, and multiple disabilities. Assessments are
individualized based on the specific concerns of the parent, guardian, or referring
physician. The comprehensive assessments may include a review of pertinent
medical and developmental history, a medical examination, and developmental testing. TrainingPediatric
medical residents are integrally involved in the care and evaluation of children
seen in the Developmental Pediatrics Clinic. University of Tennessee medical students
and other Boling Center professional trainees are also frequent observers and
