Blackboard Info for Students

Blackboard is the course management system that some of your faculty are using this academic year. Blackboard is a web-based program that requires a Java-enabled browser (Netscape Communicator 4.x or Internet Explorer 4 or above) and an Internet connection for access.

To get to the Blackboard server at the UT Health Science Center, point your browser to http://courses.utmem.edu/. You should see a screen that looks like this:

Each person accessing Blackboard needs to have a Blackboard username and password. If you do not already have a Blackboard account, you will need to contact your professor before you can access the any of his/her Blackboard course sites. Once you have a Blackboard account, you will need to login to the server each time you want to access a course site. To do this, go to our Blackboard website (http://courses.utmem.edu/) and click on the LOGIN button to enter your username and password.

You have to be enrolled in each course site to access the documents therein. Please consult your professor about how s/he prefers to handle this. If enrollment is open, you will need find the course listing in the course catalog on the Blackboard site. (You can also conduct a search for the course using the Blackboard search engine). To access the course catalog, click on the Courses tab (next to My Institution) located at the top of your Blackboard home page. Once you have found the course, click on the Enroll button located to the right of the course title. If there is no enroll button, please contact your professor.

If enrollment is not open (that is, you have not been told to enroll) and you do not have access to the courses that you need, please contact Bb@utmem.edu or call 901.448.2222 for assistance.
