How do I create a course?

Faculty at the University of Tennessee can create courses as needed. Course sites can support classes (both online and face-to-face) as well as collaborative projects.

Once you have logged into the Blackboard server (http://courses.utmem.edu), you should click on the Courses tab at the top of the screen. There, you will see a button labeled Create. Clicking on the button will take you to the course creation page.

Here are some things to remember:

• Your CourseID should match the abbrevation+number listed for your class in your college's catalog (ex. ANAT101). Click here to view the online catalogs. Please email the system administrator if you have questions about this.

• Do not put spaces or punctuation in your CourseID.

• The default setting is for your site not to be available to guests (people who are not enrolled in the course). It is recommended that you leave this setting this way.

• You should categorize your course based on the options available. If you require different or other options, please contact the system administrator.
