Memphis claims a unique musical history as the "Home of the Blues" and the hometown of Elvis. His estate, Graceland, attracts over a half million visitors a year, making it one of the nation's top tourist attractions. Memphis offers one of the nations's lowest costs of living, with housing costs well below the national average. James Boutte, M. D., One of the most important aspects of a residency program is the tone and quality of the faculty-resident interaction. At UT, the camaraderie between residents and staff is excellent. The staff members are very approachable, knowledgeable, and friendly. They remember what it is like to be a resident and they treat you as a peer who is still learning. Jeff Blalack, M.D.,
