Disability and life insurance are fully paid for the resident by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Medical Student Clerkships & Electives

Medical students who are thinking about the UT program should realize that the anesthesiologist in the operating room is focused on total patient care. As a result, students in the senior year should concentrate on acquiring a comprehensive understanding of physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Forth-year rotations in cardiology, pulmonary medicine, and anesthesiology are excellent ways to prepare for an anesthesiology residency. Senior Electives and Clerkships are available for students in LCME medical schools with free housing provided for out-of-town students. Contact the education manager for further information.

The following materials are mandatory for application:

  1. A completed Resident application form using the ERAS system.
  2. Dean's letter and medical school transcript.
  3. Three letters of recommendation from clinicians who have worked with the applicant during the past two years.
