As Tennessee's leading provider of healthcare professionals, UT's mission is to meet the state's workforce need while maintaining a standard of academic excellence. With campuses located in Chattanooga and Memphis, the entry level master's Program in Occupational Therapy has the unique opportunity to include health concerns of rural and urban communities while providing cost effective healthcare education. Chattanooga MOT students are located on the Unviersity of Tennessee Chattanooga campus and have access to all services and opportunities there.
In addition to offering two locations, the MOT Program's distinguishing features include:
- entry after 90 hours of prerequisites coursework;an undergraduate degree is optional
- interprofessional learning experiences
- faculty expertise in pediatrics, geriatrics, mental health, assistive technology, and neuroscience
- faculty with advanced degrees' the majority hold doctoral degrees
- faculty/student ratio of 1:6
- three fieldwork opportunities at separate sites, including one special interest opportunity
- advanced classroom technologies
- small group learning experiences
- professional development opportunities
Students enrolled at the Chattanooga campus begin in the Fall Semester. Students enrolled at the Memphis campus will start their courses in the Winter Semester. All students will graduate in the year in which all academic and fieldwork requiremeents have been met. The professional program consists of 18 months of coursework and nine months of fieldwork. UTHSC graduates emerge as leaders who are competent, compassionate, community change agents who are prepared to improve healthcare through the delivery of quality care to all citizens.
