Admission RequirementsPrior to enrollment in the dental hygiene program at UT Health Science Center, students must complete the sixty-four (58) semester hours of pre-professional college coursework listed below, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale. A final transcript must be received verifying that this has been accomplished prior to entry into the program. Courses with grades of “D” are not acceptable. If a required course is repeated, both grades are used in calculating a cumulative grade point average. Check here to make sure you are taking the correct prerequisite courses required by our program. Those interested in applying should note that while a cumulated GPA of 2.0 is the minimum required for application, a GPA of 2.5 in required courses is expected.

The admissions committee considers dental assisting experience desirable
and strongly suggests the applicant obtain observation, at minimum. A personal interview may be required for admission.
